Satisfied with the "Anchorman"?

Beitrag von Michael13 » 23. Februar 2008 15:39

Topic - Evaluation of the mediation in this Subsection of the BVSS-Forum (1. English, 2. German version)

1. English Version
Dear readers & users of the BVSS-Forum, this time I would like to use the recent discussion about how to moderate/negotiate this Forum to evaluate the quality of the mediation of this Sub-Section "Inter- & Transnational affairs".
How you feel about the quality of the mediation in this subsection?
It the discussion being disturb by the way of the mediation?
Is it - the mediation - useful?
Do you have any remarks, ideas, hints, or advices to improve the work of the mediators (and the eventually BVSS)?

To get some idea about what to write you can also use the following survey. Nevertheless, I would be happy if you could also write something in order to include you in the process of this forum ... You can also write in German. Nevertheless I would be happy if you could try to express your opinion in English ... no worries about grammar or spelling, every try is most welcome ... you will be understood. :)

2. German/Deutsche Version

All the best & Alles Gute, Micha.

Paul

Hello,

I just found this site some days ago and was thinking that it would be good to write something.
Why are there no foreigners in this section? I think to have some non-Germans would be good to have some more fun :) ... maybe, maybe not ... I don't know, of course

Hmm, I miss some different style somehow ... I can not say what exactly but something.

I will think about that again but wanted to use this possibility to write this here ...

Well, good luck and c u ... Paul.

Hello dear Paul,

thanks for your contribution and sorry for not answering for quite a long time.

Well, somehow you're right. Some people with international contacts are not that active anymore in this forum ... for different reasons. It is not so easy to activate new or re-activate "old" contacts. Yet, it is a field that should be explored ...

Anyway, I got your point and will see what's possible in the future. Admittedly, that does also the include the collaboration of the BVSS who owns this forum. Nevertheless, there are plenty of possibilities (including my own contacts which could be re-activated) and we will see what's doable in the future ...

Enjoy the day and all the best, Micha
("anchorman" of the "Inter- & Transnational Section")

Hello Michael!

First of all, can you explain us, what is your function in your role as a "moderator"? I think, here in the subforum is NOTHING to moderate...
And when there is nothing to do here, why the question about the "quality" of your moderation?
Do you need such a feedback for your "ego" now, after your said "good-bye" to the BVSS? :zwinkern

Sorry for my bad english, i'm german. :smile

Regards,
Ralf

Dear Ralf,
Ralf_D. hat geschrieben:First of all, can you explain us, what is your function in your role as a "moderator"?

A "moderator" - as far as I consider - is there to organise things, e.g. "dissolving" conflicts between two or more people by engineering consent or at least to help conflicts to be solved. As I already mentioned I see a "moderator" similar to a "moderator" in TV or a referee in a soccer match. If the (discussion) ball goes on smoothly (very good DEnglish :) ... sorry for that) then the "moderator" can relax and if necessary try to find new topics.
Ralf_D. hat geschrieben:I think, here in the subforum is NOTHING to moderate...
That seems almost correct, Ralf. In case that there is quite a calm, silent atmosphere in this subforum the "moderator", meaning myself, could create new topics in order to launch a new discussion.
Ralf_D. hat geschrieben:And when there is nothing to do here, why the question about the "quality" of your moderation?
That there is "nothing" to do here is not necessarily the "problem" of the "moderator". The referee cannot do much if the soccer players are not in the mood to play. The game can start when they are in the mood, then the referee has to be back again. At least this is the practise in non-profit football.
In a TV show or the Bundesliga or wherever you got paid for your job, you have to talk or to play (since you get paid for it) ... so there is something to do although there might not be a reason to talk or to play.
Ralf_D. hat geschrieben:Do you need such a feedback for your "ego" now, after your said "good-bye" to the BVSS? :zwinkern
I am not really sure what you mean with "now" since this survey is almost two months old. It rather seems to me that you came a bit late to the football playground and missed the match. So what, can happen ...
Therefore I advise you to start a new game and bring some new topics on the market.
Your English is not as bad as you may want make people believe it to be.
Ralf_D. hat geschrieben:Sorry for my bad english, i'm german. :smile
That you are German doesn't necessarily mean that you must confuse humour with "ego" :) ...
Too many Germans do that already which lead to the clichè that Germans have a bad sense of humour
That may happen

Besides, there are even people who would go even farther then I did:
"Many people say that the Germans have a bad sense of humour.
We can categorically state that is not true.
Germans have NO sense of humour at all."

So, Ralf, please have a next try ... Good luck this time and enjoy the day ...
